News Now: Aston Villa is interested in recruiting an out-of-favour Tottenham player.

According to the Sun, Aston Villa have indicated interest in signing Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Lo Celso has failed to find playing time under Ange Posetecoglou, and The Sun is now the latest site to predict that the midfielder, who has only a year left on his contract, will leave the North London club during the summer transfer window.

Lo Celso is in the final year of his Tottenham contract.
The story confirms what we have heard from Spanish sources over the last several weeks, claiming that Real Betis is interested in re-signing the Argentine.

However, it is noted that the La Liga club may not have the finances to pay the operation, leaving the way open for Villa.

Aston Villa is interested in Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham.
The Midlands club is claimed to be looking to strengthen their team ahead of their Champions League campaign next season, and they have now reportedly set their sights on the out-of-favour Tottenham player.
Unai Emery is a great fan of Lo Celso, having worked with the Spurs star during his loan time at Villarreal in 2022, and the Spanish coach is now keen to reunite with the player at Villa Park.

Lo Celso played 24 games for Tottenham in season, scoring two goals (transfermarkt).
Spurs Web Opinion
Given his contract situation and the possibility of his departing for free this summer, Tottenham would most likely be willing to trade Lo Celso to the highest bidder.
I assume the midfielder is considering a return to La Liga, as he appears to be better suited to Spanish football than the Premier League.
