GOOD NEWS: Following a lengthy deliberation, the Orlando Pirates have agreed to ink a new contract with……..

MONYANE SIGNED NEW TERMS WITH ORLANDO PIRATES
Regular Pirates right-back Thabiso Monyane was about to have his contract expire. However, the Nedbank Cup champions moved quickly to extend their contracts. The prevalent belief is that the club’s right-back position needs to be improved, although Monyane’s expertise is crucial.

“Apparently, it is a three-year contract. According to the information we have, his current contract could have expired this month, but he will now remain with the organization until June 2027. He now has the experience, and having other guys in his position is beneficial to the squad because they will be competing in the CAF Champions League, which requires experienced players in all departments. So, sure, it’s a three-year contract, and everything is going well right now,” a source told Soccer-Laduma.

TWO GOALKEEPERS OUT AND ONE IN?
According to SoccerLaduma, the Orlando Pirates are prioritizing a transfer for Nigeria and Chippa United goalkeeper Stanlew Nwabali. Otherwise, the Buccaneers would consider a move for AmaZulu and Bafana Bafana player Veli Mothwa. Fabrice Ondoa, the 2017 Afcon winner for Cameroon, is also a target. Chippa’s estimated R30 million valuation of Nwabali turned off Kaizer Chiefs, but Pirates remain interested at that price point. The 28-year-old goalkeeper shone for Nigeria at Afcon 2023, helping them reach the final before losing to hosts Ivory Coast. On the other end of the pitch, Orlando Pirates have released striker Kermit Erasmus. The 33-year-old has been extensively linked with a return to his former club Cape Town City.

Tshegofatso Mabasa, a 27-year-old striker, could also leave the Bucs. The Golden Boot winner, who scored 16 goals in the league between 2023 and 2024, is frequently connected with a move to the Middle East. Mabasa is presently competing for a spot in the Pirates XI alongside Bafana Bafana standout Evidence Makgopa. Ironically, Hugo Broos ignored Mabasa in the last roster for matches against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

Orlando Pirates make big decision on promising stars.

According to rumors, the Orlando Pirates are still making major selections to form their roster for the upcoming season.

Pirates let go six players in five days last week, and they won’t be the last.

PIRATES PLAYER CLEAR-OUT
Pirates released Souaibou Marou, Fortune Makaringe, Kermit Erasmus, Richard Ofori, Thabang Monare, and Siyabonga Mpontshane. Those are players whose contracts have expired at the club, and management considers them surplus to requirements. There are still players under contract who could be loaned out, sold, or have their contracts terminated at the Houghton-based club. Thabiso Monyane, a young right-back, will not face such challenges.

Monyane has developed into a valuable asset for the Pirates in the right-back position. The previous season, he frequently took second place to Bandile Shandu and even left-footed Paseka Mako in that position. However, due to the duo’s lengthy injuries, he received an extended run in the team, which allowed him to prove his worth.

According to Soccer-Laduma, the Pirates are ready to offer Monyane a new long-term contract.

MONYANE EXTENDS BUCCANEERS’ DEAL!

“For the time being, we can consider the transaction completed. It’s almost complete. The player (Monyane) and his representatives are pleased with the new contract. The club (Pirates) wishes to keep him since he is one of the few players from their development group who are still on the roster, which contributes to the club’s culture of continuity. “It’s a three-year contract with a one-year option,” a source told the publication.

Monyane will now hope to improve on this season’s performance in the coming season. He will, however, be aware that more competition awaits him at the Pirates next season and beyond!
