NEWS NOW: Kieran Trippier explains what Jordan Pickford did to him while he was England captain, which ‘nobody knows’

Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier has revealed what Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford did to him while he was England captain.
Trippier, 33, appears certain to start at left-back for Gareth Southgate at Euro 2024, at least until Luke Shaw is fit to play.

Trippier’s club season was cut short by a calf injury, and he only returned for the final three games.
The right-back did not appear to be in great shape in those games, which may be cause for concern as England’s campaign begins on Sunday against Serbia.

But Trippier has the trust of Southgate, who will most likely rely on a player who has been so essential for him in recent tournaments.

That being said, while speaking with Pickford in England’s ‘Lion’s Den’, Trippier recently told a story about what the keeper did to him when he captained England against Andorra previously.
Kieran Trippier claimed Jordan Pickford began giggling during his England captain’s address.

Trippier shared a story about his pre-match speech against Andorra, which he had to repeat at St James’ Park recently. He stated, “There was one time when we were playing Andorra and I was captain. Nobody even knows this so I may as well get it out.”

“So I am captain, you have to give a speech beforehand, and Picks and I are really close. I was already apprehensive, but while I was speaking, he burst out laughing, and I lost track of where I was.

“Everyone began laughing their heads off. And then I had to do it again, but every five minutes, him, H, and Walks are all saying ‘can’t wait to hear your speech’.

“I was going, but I don’t need this right now.” I felt at ease because I had done it so many times in Newcastle!

“But when I am with these boys. If he was opposite me again, [it would have been horrible].

“The second time, everything went better. I’ve never told anyone that. It was horrific. But everyone laughed, therefore we won the game!”

Newcastle may sell Trippier this summer.
Despite his achievements during Eddie Howe’s stay at Newcastle, the club is allegedly willing to trade Trippier this summer if the appropriate offer comes in.

Tino Livarmento flourished in Trippier’s absence and has a strong case for a starting spot on Newcastle’s right side, with Lewis Hall on the other.
Bayern Munich was quite interested in signing the Newcastle player in January and might perhaps return this summer.
All that being said, the real reason Newcastle are going over to Japan for pre-season has now been exposed.

Newcastle are optimistic they can reach a deal for a ‘great’ player after Lloyd Kelly.

Newcastle United have been active in the market ahead of the summer transfer window, which opens later this week.
The Magpies are expected to sign Lewis Hall permanently, and Lloyd Kelly is also close to a move to St James’ Park.

Now, a source claims Newcastle are in negotiations with a 21-year-old who impressed in the Premier League last season.

According to the Northern Echo, the Magpies are reportedly targeting Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.

According to the source, Newcastle and the Clarets had a productive first round of talks.

Newcastle’s negotiators are allegedly unwilling to match Burnley’s current asking price of more than £20 million.

However, there is confidence that an agreement can be made below that sum, according to the report.

Trafford would fight with Nick Pope for Newcastle’s first-choice gloves, with Mark Gillespie being the Magpies’ third option.

Who is Newcastle United’s target James Trafford?
James Trafford rose through the ranks at Manchester City and had loan spells at Accrington Stanley and Bolton Wanderers.

In 2022, Burnley purchased the 21-year-old from the Citizens for a reported £19 million, and the “outstanding” youngster immediately established himself as one of England’s rising stars.
Trafford made 28 appearances for Burnley last season, but was replaced by the more experienced Arijanet Muric for the final ten games of the league season.
Despite losing his first-team berth last season, earning so many Premier League matches at such a young age demonstrates how bright his future is.
