JUST NOW: Our demands must be met in order for him to leave Miami.

Larry Csonka demands you put some respect on the 1972 Miami Dolphins and the perfect NFL season

The 1972 Miami Dolphins are the best team in NFL history because of their on-field performance, not because others claim they are.

The 1972 Miami Dolphins are still the only unbeaten team in NFL history. Nonetheless, they rarely receive the recognition they deserve for achieving such an iconic feat.

So when Larry Csonka was asked what it felt like to be dubbed the best football team in history, he got a little agitated and made sure the world knew it wasn’t the suits that made them the greatest team; it was their #elite play on the field – as a unit.

“They did not name us the best squad; we took the [redacted] thing, and that is what happened. I’m tired of folks telling me how they named us—they named us sh*t! “We took it!”

Csonka, 77, spent eight seasons with the Dolphins, guiding them to consecutive Super Bowl triumphs in 1972 and 1973. He is widely regarded as the best running back in team history, and it is difficult to dispute with his accomplishments.

With Miami, the “Sundance Kid” carried for 6,737 yards and 53 touchdowns. Csonka carried for 8,081 yards and 64 touchdowns over his 12-year NFL career. In addition to winning two Super Bowls with the Dolphins, he was awarded the Most Valuable Player of

When asked if he was surprised the 1972 Dolphins were chosen the greatest team of all time, Miami’s Hall of Fame running back Csonka expressed his conviction that perfection is accomplishing excellence as a team.

“Fellas, you’re missing the entire point. It is a team sport. When you reach perfection, there is no single entity that leads in that regard. You do not have the leading rusher. You might not have the top wide receiver. You might not have the best tackler in the game. The fact is that if you prioritize winning over individual performance. As a result, when discussing great league entities, you become one-dimensional, which is counterproductive to winning.

Unfortunately, I never saw the 1972 season other than what we watch on the NFL Network, but I’m ready to run through a wall. And I’ll be the first to admit that at times, I may have criticized the ’72 squad and what they accomplished #Jealous. But, as Csonka stated, no one had done it before, and they certainly haven’t since.

I will never say anything derogatory about Csonka — or the ideal squad he previously played for.
