No. 1 running back committed elsewhere remembers ‘excellent’ Alabama official visit.

Akylin Dear has been committed to Ole Miss since late March, but practically every other school in the country is recruiting the class’s top running back. Robert Gillespie of the Alabama Crimson Tide is one of many coaches who call him on a daily basis.

Before making an unexpected pledge to the Rebels, Dear assured Bama247 that he would “for sure” return to Tuscaloosa. One of the main reasons for this was Gillespie’s retention on the Kalen DeBoer crew.

“To tell you the truth, if he had left (Alabama would have been out), but since coach G is there, that’s my guy,” he told Bama247 in January.

POST OFFICIAL VISITS: Notes, Nuggets, and Intel from the Weekend

The two worked together to set aside a weekend for an official visit. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder is still content with his decision, but another trip to The Capstone has Dear reconsidering.

Finishing the All-America Road Trip in South Alabama.

My late, great buddy Cecil Hurt, one of the many interesting student assistants I had while working in Alabama’s sports information office and one of the nation’s great sportswriters and humorists, once asked me, “How Southern do you have to be to have the nickname ‘Dixie?'”

So, do you have to go all the way to South Alabama to go south?

Today’s virtual tour of Alabama will take us to the hometowns of Crimson Tide All-America players from the state. This is the final leg of the journey, which takes you into the state’s deep south and ends at the Gulf of Mexico.

Among them will be Millard Howell’s, called Dixie, residence.

College football odds: Opening lines for the biggest 2024 games, including the historic Georgia-Texas fight

The last parts of the college football offseason begin during the next two months, when teams wrap up their summer recruiting efforts, hit the weight room, and gather on the practice field. With the 2024 season approaching, betting odds for the most anticipated games have already begun to emerge, and Circa Sports issued a vast list of lines on Saturday, encompassing every week of the season except Week 1.

The new SEC and Big Ten matchups between Texas and Georgia, as well as Oregon and Ohio State, are among the season’s most important games. Conference realignment compacts the best teams in the country into four conferences, making this season even more of a spectacle with pivotal games each week.

The College Football Playoff expansion also implies that more teams will compete in high-stakes games late in the season. November rivalry games may have greater national championship implications than ever before.

Circa Sportsbook has provided the opening lines for several of the top college football games in 2024.

WEEK 0/1: None listed.

Betting lines for the first two weeks of the college football season will be released later this summer. Meanwhile, a peek at the first few slates reveals a number of fascinating matches. The first takes Florida State and Georgia Tech to Ireland for a Week 0 ACC matchup, and when the season begins the following week, Clemson-Georgia, Florida-Miami, Notre Dame-Texas A&M, and USC-LSU will be must-see TV.

Tennessee (-5) versus NC State

Colorado at Nebraska (-5).

Iowa State at Iowa (-2).

Texas (-5) at Michigan.

Each of these non-conference games promises to shed insight on whether the summer hype surrounding some of the country’s most entertaining teams pays off. However, no non-conference game on the 2024 college football schedule is as thrilling than the matchup between Texas and Michigan. These reigning playoff teams and preseason top-10 squads have conference and national title aspirations, and losing this Week 2 duel would be an early setback on that path, leaving little room for error the rest of the way, even with CFP expansion.
