News Now: Why Draymond gained Ice Cube’s respect as an NBA enforcer.

Ice Cube, one of the greatest rappers of all time and a die-hard Los Angeles Lakers fan, has a lot of admiration for the Warriors and club leader Draymond Green.

On the most recent episode of “Dubs Talk,” Ice Cube was asked by NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole what he thought about Green and his game.

“It doesn’t matter, you know?” Ice Cube explained, holding up four fingers to represent Green’s four NBA championships.

“At the end of the day, he helped this organization obtain four titles. Four, not one, not two, not three, but four, so you have to respect his strategy. Whatever he brings the Warriors has helped them become a tremendous franchise, and he is just as much a part of that as Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, or anyone else.”

Green’s tough style of play has made him a contentious character in the NBA, earning him both fans and detractors. Ice Cube, a basketball fanatic, clearly acknowledges Green’s impact on the Warriors franchise, which grew into one of the league’s all-time great dynasties during his time there.

While Green has led Golden State to unprecedented success, he has sparked outrage among fans and officials alike for his on-court behavior, which has resulted in several suspensions during his career. Green received an indefinite suspension from the NBA after striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkić in the face during a game on December 12.

Ice Cube was in the Bay Area to promote his Big3 basketball league, which was hosting a tournament at Oakland Arena on June 15. The Big3 League is a 3-on-3 basketball league formed by the famed rapper in 2017 that includes many former NBA players, including ex-Warrior Leandro Barbosa and former All-Star Paul Millsap.
