News Now: After’verbally agreeing’ on a transaction, a Saudi Pro League club will approach Newcastle United’s club record signing.

Miguel Almiron joined Newcastle United for a club-record £21 million in 2019. He has made over 200 appearances.
According to sources, Saudi Pro League team Al-Shabab will relaunch their attempt for Miguel Almiron this summer.

Newcastle United reportedly turned down a January deal for the Paraguayan international. At the time, the Magpies were at the pinnacle of their injury problems and unable to sell.

They would be more willing to unload the winger now that the season is over. Almiron recently turned 30 and failed to build on his purple patch from the previous season.

He broke the deadlock in that unforgettable victory over Paris Saint-Germain, but the highlights were few and far between in 2023-24. Only 30 goals in 209 games since his club-record signing five and a half years ago are deemed insufficient for Newcastle’s future plans.

Almiron has remained a popular figure on Tyneside due to his exceptional work ethic, but many believe it is time to move on. With the exception of Yankuba Minteh, a young signing, Newcastle has yet to sign a right-sided attacker following the Saudi-backed purchase.

NewcastleWorld understands that signing one is a high priority for Eddie Howe this season, with questions also being raised about Jacob Murphy’s abilities. According to GiveMeSport, Al-Shabab plans to revive their interest in Almiron after “verbally agreeing” to a £25 million deal earlier this year.

The 30-year-old is reported to want to stay at Newcastle and compete for a position next season. Almiron, who is now on Copa America duty with Paraguay, has two years remaining on his contract, which he signed 18 months ago.
