So Sad: Five Southampton players have been suspended for…..

Southampton are hoping to reunite the band by bringing in a West Ham outcast to play alongside Adam Lallana.

Certain players simply scream ‘West Ham’. It’s difficult to define, but you can tell when someone is going to wear claret and blue. Danny Ings is probably one of the better instances of this.

Before joining the Hammers, he had an incredible spell at Southampton, followed by an ok, albeit uninspiring, run at Aston Villa. He arrived at a time when West Ham were desperate for goals, and he was viewed as the answer to their problems. Unfortunately, for the first time in his career, Ings failed to create an impression in front of the net.

While he improved significantly in his second season at the club, he still only scored one goal, and West Ham are looking to transfer the Englishman this summer in order to raise finances and offload his enormous salary.

Fortunately, his previous team, Southampton, may have a buyer, according to the Daily Mail. The Saints have recently re-signed their former player Adam Lallana, and it appears that this is a trend that will continue. Ings scored 46 goals in 100 games for Southampton between 2019 and 2021, so it’s reasonable that they’d want to bring back such an experienced goal scorer.

Russell Martin is definitely assembling a squad with a focus on the present rather than the long term future, which is perhaps for the better. His side is willing to offer up to £6 million, which may not seem like much, but the weight of his wages being lifted will make a significant financial impact for our Irons.

Southampton are looking for a £6 million reunion with a forward who is “as good as it gets”

Southampton’s rapid return to the Premier League following their Wembley victory has prompted club officials to begin building a squad in the hopes of avoiding relegation next season.

Saints prepare squad for Premier League return
So far, the biggest news at St Mary’s has been the homecoming of boyhood hero Adam Lallana. After 265 senior appearances with Southampton, the midfielder joined Liverpool in 2014. Before returning to the South Coast, Lallana played for Brighton and Hove Albion and earned 34 England caps.

In their search for top-flight talent, the Saints have also considered Tottenham Hotspur’s Joe Rodon. The Welsh defender spent last season on loan at Leeds United, but the Whites’ inability to secure promotion may send one of their main goals to Southampton.

Ryan Fraser joins Rodon on the Saints’ list of targets. The winger was on loan at St Mary’s last season and is currently out of favour with his parent club Newcastle. With the Scotland international playing a major role in Russell Martin’s promotion, Southampton should consider making the deal permanent this summer.

Southampton make contact with another former player.
Following Lallana’s return last week, Southampton are now looking for another former player, with The Daily Mail reporting that the Saints are interested in signing Danny Ings. The club is apparently willing to spend up to £6 million for the English striker, who presently plays for West Ham, and has inquired about the terms of a transaction.

The 31-year-old made exactly 100 games with the Saints, including loan and permanent periods. Ings has gone on to become somewhat of a journeyman during his career, with the striker lacing up for several sides in England’s premier league.

While Ings has battled for form during his most recent tenure with West Ham, many St Mary’s fans will recall the Englishman’s more successful days with the Saints. Despite his disappointing performances with the Hammers, the 31-year-old arrived with high expectations, with then-manager David Moyes praising him upon his arrival at the London Stadium.

“I believe Danny Ings is the best there is, and to be fair, it is difficult to find centre forwards at this time of year. We’re quite happy to have him; he’s already settled in nicely this morning.

If Ings does line up in red and white again, Saints fans hope he can regain his previous season’s form and lead Southampton back to the Premier League.
