Analyst blames Justin Fields for the Bears’ instability.

It has been speculated that the Bears’ volatility in recent years impeded quarterback Justin Fields from achieving long-term success with the team.

During a recent episode of FS1’s “Speak” show, commentator Emmanuel Acho blamed Fields for most of what went wrong in Chicago during his time there.

According to Matthew Marczi of Steelers Depot, “The reason that he’s had so much turnover is in large part his fault,” Acho stated. “If you succeed, you will have a lot more stability in your current location. Your head coach isn’t leaving. Then, your offensive coordinator will either stay or become the head coach. But if your offensive coordinator leaves to become a head coach, presuming you were successful, the quarterback coach will be promoted to offensive coordinator, and they will use the same playbook.”

Fields’ first season was spent under head coach Matt Nagy and offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, followed by two seasons under HC Matt Eberflus and OC Luke Getsy.

By the time the Bears traded Fields, they knew they’d take USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams with the first choice in this year’s draft. Fields finished with a 10-28 record as a starter with Chicago.

“Lack of talent breeds instability,” Acho remarked. “There will be a lot of turnover every year or two due to Justin Fields’ lack of success. I am not blaming everything on him. I feel he went into a horrible scenario in Chicago.”

While Fields had a fresh start with the Steelers, it appears he will enter training camp as a backup with little chance of passing veteran Russell Wilson on the depth chart before Pittsburgh’s regular-season opening. Unless Wilson flops at some point, Fields will most likely be on the move again in March 2025, presuming he wants to contend for a starting spot next year.
