Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter made headlines for her recent comments against Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, but it was something she did on the court that drew the attention of Warriors sniper Klay Thompson.

Carter scored 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting in Chicago’s 83-72 victory over the Dallas Wings on Thursday, all while sporting Thompson’s iconic “Anta KT9” sneaker.

Following the game, Thompson paid tribute to Carter on his Instagram account.

Thompson joined Anta in 2015 before signing a 10-year, $80 million contract with the Chinese sports equipment behemoth in 2017.

Anta has launched nine distinct kinds of sneakers in Thompson’s signature line, the most recent being the “KT9” worn by Carter on Thursday.

Carter isn’t the first basketball player to wear Thompson’s signature shoe; Warriors colleague Kevon Looney wore the “KT9” model at Golden State’s season finale on April 16.

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS.

While Thompson’s future with the Warriors is uncertain, his trademark sneakers will undoubtedly be seen on the court for years to come.

Cleveland Cavaliers are getting closer to acquiring the Golden State Warriors asset.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are still without a head coach with the firing of JB Bickerstaff. James Borrego, an assistant coach for the New Orleans Pelicans, is considered the leading candidate to become the Cavaliers’ new head coach, especially since the Los Angeles Lakers have chosen JJ Redick.

However, NBA insider Marc Stein has said that Golden State Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson is gaining traction for the Cavs’ coaching position.

“Latest from the NBA coaching carousel: I heard several times today that Kenny Atkinson is gaining traction for Cleveland’s position. James Borrego had been widely regarded as the frontrunner in coaching circles, with Minnesota’s Micah Nori also in discussion.”

Will Kenny Atkinson be named the Cleveland Cavaliers’ coach?
There is no guarantee that Borrego or Atkinson will win the job because there are others in the running, but it appears likely that one of those coaches will be hired by Cleveland, which is coming off a second-round exit in the 2024 NBA Playoffs to the Boston Celtics.

Atkinson, like Borrego, has served as a head coach. Before joining the Warriors, Atkinson was the Brooklyn Nets’ head coach from 2016-17 to 2019-20, with an overall record of 118-190. He formerly worked as an assistant with the New York Knicks and the Atlanta Hawks.

In the 2018-19 season, Atkinson finished fifth in the Coach of the Year voting, garnering two first-place votes for the honor, which was ultimately won by then-Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer.
