Breaking News: Liverpool is considering a £15 million cheaper Gordon substitute, whom Saka describes as……….

With the Arne Slot era on Merseyside due to begin next season, FSG are looking for a new attacking hero to help Liverpool return to the top of the Premier League.

The Reds have their hearts set on Newcastle man.
While Liverpool has been connected with a number of new players this summer, Anthony Gordon has dominated recent headlines. The Newcastle winger had been linked with a move away from St James’ Park in order to help the club escape financial punishment.

The Liverpool-born winger scored 11 goals and assisted 10 times as Newcastle finished seventh in the Premier League last season. According to recent sources, Gordon stated that he would be “over the moon” with a move to his hometown club.

Despite Liverpool and Gordon’s obvious appetites, the story has a twist. Newcastle have resolved their profit and sustainability issues by selling Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh. This means that the Tyneside club is far less likely to let Gordon depart this summer, pushing the Reds to look for alternative options.

Liverpool is exploring an England star as an option to Gordon.

According to Caught Offside, if Liverpool is unable to complete a deal for Gordon this summer, they may explore signing Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze instead.

While Gordon was Liverpool’s priority aim to strengthen their assault, there is no doubt that Eze would be an equal, if not better, option. Last season, the 26-year-old made 27 Premier League appearances for Palace, scoring 11 goals and assisting four times. Under new manager Oliver Glasner, Eze has emerged as one of the league’s brightest players.

Not only would Eze be able to match Gordon’s production, but he would also cost Liverpool less. According to Caught Offside, the Toon would seek a sum of around £75 million for Gordon, which is £15 million higher than the Palace man’s release clause of £60 million.

Gareth Southgate was equally impressed by Eze’s performances in South London, and the 26-year-old was called up to the Three Lions squad for Euro 2024. While Eze has only made two appearances off the bench during the competition, he has received plaudits from his colleagues, with Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka mentioning the Palace player as someone who has impressed him: “In training, I would say probably Eberechi Eze.” He has been excellent in training. “He has impressed me the most, I would say.”

While losing Gordon will be a significant loss for Slot and his team, it is evident that there are few better options than Eze.
