NEWS NOW: Anaheim Ducks key player is on surgery till further notice .

Early in the season, the starting goaltender for the Anaheim Ducks will be absent. The group declared that John Gibson had surgery this past night. Gibson is anticipated to miss three to six weeks of work. The Ducks goalie had treatment following an urgent appendectomy.

Gibson will be absent for three to six weeks.
Gibson has been the preferred choice in Anaheim for almost ten years. He’s been the elite goalie for the majority of his career. Gibson has ranked in the top five in the league in terms of saves made and shots against for the past four years. This is due to the Ducks’ recent poor performance; they are usually a lottery team. But even with all of these shots thrown at him throughout the years, Gibson continues to produce excellent results.

He has faced over 14,000 shots and averaged a.910 save percentage in his career. But the previous two seasons fell short of Gibson’s expectations. Towards the end of those two seasons, his save percentage was less than.900%. The Ducks netminder has really steadily declined in terms of both statistics and, most likely, energy since the 2019–20 campaign.

Anaheim Ducks: Situation with the goalie
Not all is lost for the Ducks since Gibson will miss at least three weeks to start the 2024–25 season. Lukas Dostal, who spent almost two seasons as the backup goalie, will be promoted to the starting position. As he advances into what will be his third full season, he has been an exciting young goaltender for the Ducks.

This implies that a new backup goalie can take his place for the time being. Within the Ducks organization, there are a few contenders for that position. Oscar Dansk, who was formerly with the Erie Otters, is one. Despite having only appeared in six NHL games, the 30-year-old is hoping for a major break to gain some consistency and possibly establish himself as a regular backup. Calle Clang is the other applicant for the position. The 22-year-old rookie Clang has not yet created an NHL account. Still, playing backup goalie is a terrific way to get your feet wet and gain insight into what it takes to be a professional.
