One of the NHL’s clubs with the highest injury rates is the Colorado Avalanche.
They currently lack two defenses and five important offensive players, which has significantly reduced the depth of their roster. The squad is in a difficult position as they attempt to remain competitive because seven players are out with various injuries.
In his latest 32 Thoughts column, Sportsnet’s hockey insider Elliotte Friedman reported that the Avalanche are actively seeking forwards to alleviate the struggles caused by the injury crisis.
“You will not be surprised to hear Colorado is looking for forwards. Need to get through a miserable stretch where five of their top nine are out.
Notable absences for Colorado include Artturi Lehkonen, Miles Wood, Ross Colton, Jonathan Drouin, Sean Behrens, and Tucker Poolman. Additionally, Valeri Nichushkin is sidelined due to a suspension and is expected to return in mid-November.
Cale Makar considers the Colorado Avalanche’s diminished roster.
Cale Makar talked about the difficulties the Colorado Avalanche are facing because of their thin roster, highlighting the faith of the guys who are still there.
Although injuries are regrettable, he agreed that the club should not focus on the players who are out and instead concentrate on the group that is available.
“I mean, all the positions are occupied by self-assured men. We can still be concerned about who is out. Regretfully, we simply need to cooperate with the group we have in order to avoid sympathy. We’re not experiencing self-pity.
“We definitely want to be healthy, but at the same time, we know this group in here is capable of winning regardless of who we have, so we just had to flip that mindset and make sure that we come out every single night regardless of the lineup and still make sure that we’re competing and out working the other team.”
The Avs just suffered two crushing losses to the Tampa Bay Lighting and the Chicago Blackhawks. With 10 points from 11 games, the team is currently ranked fifth in the Central Division and twenty-first overall.
On Saturday, the Colorado Avalanche will play the Nashville Predators in an attempt to recover. At 8 p.m. ET, the puck drops.
