HEART BREAKING: Will this injury prevent him from ever playing again? (SPURS)

HEART BREAKING: Will this injury prevent him from ever playing again? (SPURS)

Victor Wembanyama hasn’t participated in a Spurs regular-season basketball game in almost a month. Both his teammates and his supporters have been terribly missing him. Everyone will be happy to see him return to the court the following season, but he must first recover from the deep vein thrombosis that initially kept him out of action.

Although it’s encouraging that San Antonio’s management thinks he’ll be ready for the start of next season, the games must continue in the interim. When the Spurs traveled to Sacramento for De’Aaron Fox’s first game back there last night, fans were pleasantly surprised to see Wemby. You should anticipate seeing him with the team more often than not as they have ten road games left.

Wembanyama will keep close to his Spurs teammates

Vic has reportedly been in “good spirits” ever since the news broke. That shouldn’t be surprising to anyone. Since this situation is reportedly a one-off, he knows he’ll be able to resume his career before long. He’s already known for having a good head on his shoulders, and he usually brings the right perspective to any scenario. It’s a great sign of his maturity, which will serve him well in times like this.

Besides, the Spurs’ culture is one that promotes a family-like atmosphere. These guys are like brothers, and being around one another can only be a positive for his mentality. Last week, Stephon Castle revealed that the Alien hasn’t stopped being involved with the team.

The 2024–25 season has 21 games remaining. He will probably spend the great majority of them with the team. Wemby has consistently expressed how important he is to his teammates, and he has upheld that throughout the entire process. He keeps proving that he is a fantastic person in addition to being a fantastic basketball player.

You root for a person like that. The fact that he’s ineligible for the NBA awards he deserves due to not meeting the 65-games played threshold is a sad one. The rules are understandable, and I am a fan of them, but that’s only because the league needed to do something. Superstars were missing way too many games due to rest or some obscure reason that was nothing more than an excuse.

The goal is always to win in the postseason, but this is still an entertainment business. Unfortunately for Spurs fans, our entertainment will be severely compromised for the rest of the year, but at least we know that Wemby is okay and still excited to be with his teammates. That knowledge and some extraterrestrial highlights will have to hold us over until he steps back on the floor next season.
