NEWS LINE: Notre Dame are expecting their key starter to return.

Defensive end Jordan Botelho’s senior season didn’t turn out the way he had hoped, but head coach Marcus Freeman said Monday that the Notre Dame starter is likely to return for another season.

With 12 tackles and a sack in the first three games this autumn, the Hawaiian native had a strong start. However, he suffered serious injuries against Purdue. He was sidelined for the rest of the season, which confirmed that it looked terrible.

Botelho had played in four seasons ahead of this one, but will now get a medical redshirt which gives him eligibility to play next fall. It’s big news for him to come back, as his explosiveness off the edge has been what the Irish have been lacking over the last few weeks. Hopefully, he’s full recovered by the time fall camp rolls around next year.
