The Memphis Grizzlies are now the fifth seed in the Western Conference after losing their past three games. They also lead the No. 8 seed Minnesota Timberwolves by 2.5 games. The Grizzlies have a real possibility of finishing the season as a Play-In team, even though it previously appeared that they would have homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Tuesday’s game against the Utah Jazz will be their next chance to improve and go back into the win column. However, the Grizzlies made a regrettable statement about one of their players a few days prior to the game.
Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke suffered a knee injury just five minutes into the team’s loss against the Portland Trail Blazers last Wednesday. He missed the rest of the game and the team’s loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday. According to the team, Clarke suffered a high-grade PCL strain and will miss the rest of the season.
Clarke was having a good season in his sixth season with the Grizzlies. The 28-year-old averaged 8.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1 assist in 64 games, including 18 starts. He also had a 62.1% field goal percentage. The Grizzlies need to put together as many wins as they can in order to get back on track and build momentum before the postseason begins. Regretfully, they will be without one of their main players for the remainder of the season.
