JUST NOW: Braves broadcast during blown 6-run lead to Rockies is a descent into depression.

Atlanta Braves fans and announcers alike are devastated by the team’s huge late-game error against the Colorado Rockies.
The Atlanta Braves suffered possibly the most enormous breakdown of the 2024 MLB season on Sunday against the Colorado Rockies, losing a huge game.

The Braves appeared to be on track for a convincing victory as they led 8-2 entering the bottom of the eighth inning. The Rockies, however, had other plans, scoring seven runs in a row to grab a 9-8 lead and win.

Coors Field was absolutely humming as the Rockies staged the season’s best comeback, leaving the Braves stunned. But perhaps no one was more surprised than Atlanta’s commentary team of Brandon Gaudin and Tom Glavine. The announcers sounded stunned by the unlikely late-game rally.

The Braves’ broadcast during their squandering 6-run lead against the Rockies is a slide into melancholy.
“Oh boy,” Gaudin says as Colorado infielder Brendan Rodgers hits a two-run double, putting the Rockies up.

To make matters worse, Colorado scored five runs with two outs in the eighth inning.

Gaudin says “another hit” numerous times throughout the game as Atlanta’s bullpen squanders what should have been a simple victory. Following the disastrous blunder, Braves Country will have nightmares about those two words.

Atlanta had a 99.2 percent probability of winning when Jorge Soler hit a 449-foot homer to give them an 8-2 lead, according to MLB.com. Unfortunately, relievers Luke Jackson and Joe Jimenez were unable to finish the job for the Braves.

Jackson gave up four hits and four earned runs in 0.2 innings, striking out two batters before being replaced by Jimenez. Unfortunately for the Braves, the latter was not much better—if at all.

Jimenez allowed four hits and three earned runs on nine pitches. Yikes. What a horrible performance.

Braves supporters are probably devastated by the shocking loss to the Rockies, and rightfully so. According to Craig Meyer of the Associated Press, the Braves had a 48-2 record when leading after seven innings previous to the stunning loss. So Gaudin and Glavine’s play-by-play reactions are more than justified.
