The creators of the Netflix documentary “Vini Jr.”, which is based on the life of Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr., have been threatened with legal action by Valencia CF. According to the Spanish football team, the movie’s depiction of Vinicius Jr.’s racist incident is not entirely accurate. Conspiracao, a Brazilian production firm, is behind the documentary.
A scene from a 2023 Real Madrid vs. Valencia game at the Mestalla stadium is included in the documentary, during which Vinicius was subjected to racist taunts from some supporters. The game was momentarily halted due to the incident.
The three Valencia supporters were later barred from the stadium and given jail terms. This was the first time Spanish football supporters were disciplined for using racist taunts during a game.
