Revenge game dismissed by former Steelers quarterback

Pittsburgh — Since he is expected to lead the New York Jets for the upcoming season, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields was caught up in the quarterback free agent scramble this offseason and ended up going to New York.

The Steelers got out to a strong start with a 4-2 record in 2024, and Fields led the club for the first six games of the season. During his tenure as manager, Fields produced mediocre league play and spent the rest of the season on the bench in favour of Russell Wilson, the other starter.Fields will now be the Jets’ de facto starter and will probably be in the lead when they play the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first game of the 2025 season. Fields, who has been attending the Jets’ OTAs early, was questioned about potential plotlines for the season opener. “We play them in Week 1.” That wasn’t actually a thought,” Fields remarked.

Fields appears to have handled the transition gracefully after what can only be described as a season filled with ups and downs. Fields is still on the younger end of the quarterback spectrum and is expected to have a respectably long career, whether as a starter or backup at the highest level, despite indications that his OTA experience has not started well.

Fields has a two-year contract with the Jets, and during that time, he will earn $40 million as the team’s signal caller.
