No one will cancel David Gilmour’s solo track off his new album, “Dark and Velvet Nights,” according to Pink Floyd.

David Gilmour of Pink Floyd has released a new solo single titled “Dark and Velvet Nights,” which is taken from his upcoming album, Luck and Strange.

Sony Music is scheduled to release Luck and Strange on September 6th. Gavin Elder directed the music video for the most recent hit.

The song was co-written by Gilmour and Polly Samson, who used Polly’s poetry as inspiration.
One day, the song just came to her. I was thrilled to have found this rhythm.

I took out a wonderful poem that Polly had given me for our wedding anniversary and sung it on the track to see how it would sound with words. It was sitting on the desk next to me. Polly r

esponded, “Wonderful, great, I’ll need to fiddle with it a bit,” when I played it for her. Gilmour said, “So she added a couple of verses, and there it was—very serendipitous.”

In a recent interview, Gilmour described Luck and Strange as the “best album I’ve made” since Pink Floyd’s 1973 classic, The Dark Side of the Moon.
