JUST NOW: Cardiff City has signed a contract with the top defender from Cercle Brugge.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, Cardiff City will be receiving Jesper Daland’s departure from Cercle Brugge. In preparation for the transfer, the Norwegian defender is now in the Welsh city finishing up his physical. The 24-year-old is in the last year of his contract with Cercle and is estimated by Transfermarkt to be worth €4.5 million.

From his 2021 transfer from Start, Daland has established himself as one of the team’s greatest defenders. He has always had a dominant presence on the field due to his height, but he also possesses the determination to win headers and get into tackles. Daland’s strength as a center defender at that period was a major contributor to Cercle’s success in recent years, and he will undoubtedly be missed. With 118 appearances for the team and four goals, he will be leaving. He trained with Monaco, Cercle’s parent club, one winter when he was there as well.

The amount Cardiff City is paying Cercle to complete the signing is still unknown.
