On Monday, Fernando Hierro, the talented Spanish player who serves as the team’s sporting director, and Ahmed Al-Ghamdi, the executive director of the Saudi Al-Nassr FC, led a tour of Baghdad, Iraq.
“We had a morning tour around Baghdad with Al-Ghamdi and Hierro,” the head of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Dirjal, stated in a statement that the Iraqi News Agency (INA) obtained.
Dirjal went on, “The visitors conveyed how incredibly delighted they were with their trip to Iraq—a first in every way. It also demonstrated the depth of the affection that unites the two fraternal nations.”
Conversely, Fernando Hierro, the star of Real Madrid FC and the Spanish national teams, stated that he was “happy with the visit to Baghdad despite its short duration” and that he “aspires to visit it at other times, and see its landmarks in a big way.”
Al-Ghamdi expressed his “big thanks and appreciation for the warm reception” by the Iraqi Football Association, stressing that “this is not new for Iraq and its people.”
