With the Carolina Panthers, former South Carolina Gamecock Xavier Legette had a breakthrough performance.
This past weekend, some former Gamecocks were having an impact on NFL football fields as the South Carolina Gamecocks were on their bye week. A strong effort by wide receiver Xavier Legette of the Carolina Panthers against the Cincinnati Bengals was one of those players.
Despite the setback, Legette had a significant game for his team on Sunday as he continued to progress through his first season. Legette had six receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown before the end of the day. In his effort, he added two more carries for 10 yards. It was Legette’s first touchdown in his playing career.
This season, the Panthers as a whole—especially on offense—have been attempting to find their identity. Bryce Young, a former first-round pick, was benched early in the season, and it seems the Panthers have found some offensive success. Legettefirst-round, a previous first-round selection, is now more involved in the offense and contributing to his current team as a result of this. The former Gamecock was a key component of the offense throughout his collegiate career, and it seems he’s beginning to settle into his new role in the NFL.
