The original versions of both songs were composed for KISS’s 1982 album “Creatures Of The Night.”
In celebration of announcing the start of his own record company, Bryan Adams has shared a brand-new double A-side song.
The two songs shared as part of the new release are the first to be shared as part of the brand. Today, August 2, the new independent record label Bad Records was revealed.
Originally composed by Adams, Jim Vallance, and Gene Simmons for KISS’s 1982 album “Creatures of the Night,” the tracks are titled “War Machine” and “Rock and Roll Hell.” In addition, a video shot on the roof of London’s Royal Albert Hall during Adams’ most recent stay there has been released online with the latter.
In a statement, Adams discussed the songs and how they came to be early in his career, long before he went on to win a Grammy, enter the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The songs have been on top charts in over 40 nations.
He remarked, “Here are two songs I co-wrote when I was a 22-year-old struggling songwriter to commemorate the first single on Bad Records.” These are a few of the songs that came from an unexpected call I received from producer Michael James Jackson asking if I would want to compose for KISS. Jim Vallance and Gene Simmons co-wrote a few of the tracks.
“Gene played me this amazing bass riff while we were sitting with the band, and that ended up being the foundation of ‘War Machine,'” he said. I came up with the title while attempting to come up with a possible theme to go along with the riff. War was the natural concept to go along with the other song we’d written, since that song was about hell.
“I proposed that we rework Jim’s song ‘Rock and Roll Hell,’ which had been released with Bachman Turner Overdrive a few years prior, for KISS. Though it’s amazing to consider that these topics are regrettably still relevant today, I’m incredibly appreciative of the KISS guys for providing me the opportunity in the past.
Adams’ solo career reached new heights after his tenure as a songwriter for the rock legends, especially with his 1983 Top 10 album “Cuts Like A Knife” and follow-up LP “Reckless.”
The new music video for “Rock and Roll Hell” is available above. Pre-order the 7″ vinyl single, which will be released on August 30, by going here.
In unrelated Bryan Adams news, the legendary singer-songwriter gained notoriety last winter when he said that he had “tried to help” Amy Winehouse kick her addictions.
He told The Sunday Times, “I invited her to spend the holidays with my family.” The article also said that Adams had offered the “Rehab” powerhouse carrot and beet juice and pushed her to eat vegan meals, which did not go over well with her.
He responded, “Tried to help her but, you know, it’s got to come from within,” when asked if he thought his endeavor would be effective.
