Star quarterback Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens has shown his love to anyone affected by the terrifying bridge collapse in the city.

Early on Tuesday morning, a massive cargo ship struck a portion of the Francis Scott Key bridge. In horrifying pictures, it forced a large portion of the bridge to collapse into the Patapsco River below.

According to NBC News, at least six people have gone missing since Tuesday afternoon after several cars plunged into the river. Jackson, who has been a member of the Ravens since 2018, posted his prayers online following the incident.

He tweeted, including three prayer emojis, “For the people and their families that were apart of the collapsing Bridge in Baltimore, my heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all.”

“Our hearts go out to those who have been affected by the horrific Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse early this morning,” the Ravens wrote in a statement as well.

“We appreciate that the first responders and local authorities who are on the scene are in charge of the search and rescue operations and are providing support to the families who have been affected the hardest. We are confident that the Baltimore community will come together in the wake of this catastrophe.

Major League Baseball team in the city, the Baltimore Orioles, has also released a statement expressing their sorrow. “We are deeply saddened by the news of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse, and we offer our condolences and prayers to the families affected by this tragic event,” they wrote.

Just before colliding with the bridge, CNN claimed that the cargo ship Dali informed the authorities that it was losing power. Governor Wes Moore of Maryland commended the officials for responding quickly to the mayday call, blocking off the bridge to minimize damage.

“We’re thankful that between the mayday and the collapse, that we had officials who were able to begin to stop the flow of traffic so more cars were not on the bridge,” Moore stated to reporters. “These folks deserve to be heroes. They prevented fatalities.”

Resources from the air, land, and sea are all being used in what Moore called “still an active search and rescue mission.” Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski discussed the “difficult” conditions for the dive operation in an interview with CNN.

He said, “We’re talking about a deep channel port.” “There are powerful currents and 40 to 50 feet of water.” The water is chilly and the weather is windy. Therefore, in addition to the fall from the bridge, we are undoubtedly concerned for the people who are in the water.”
