JUST NOW: Cardiff City key player sustain a terrible injury.

Isaak Davies, Jamilu Collins, and Kion Etete of Cardiff City will all likely spend extended periods of time sidelined by injury.

At the Memorial Ground, the trio was not there for the Bluebirds’ 2-0 preseason victory over Bristol Rovers.

Additionally, Cardiff’s 2024–25 season will not begin for Nigerian left-back Collins, Wales Under-21 international Davies, or attacker Etete, according to manager Erol Bulut.

“From the last game in Austria against Hertha, Kion is injured, Isaak is injured, and JC is also injured,” Bulut said to BBC Sport Wales.

“Isaak Davies is expected to miss four months of time, Kion three months, and JC six to eight weeks.

These were the drawbacks, but that’s how football works.”

Mark McGuinness, David Turnbull, and Callum Robinson were also absent from the match against Rovers, a League One team.

Three days prior, Robinson and Turnbull had participated in the full 2-1 victory over Reading at Cardiff City Stadium, thus they were rested.

Additionally, Bulut stated that defender McGuinness was left off the team as a precaution because of a muscle ailment.

Regarding McGuinness, Bulut stated, “We protected him today because he was feeling a muscular problem.”

In their last preseason game, the Bluebirds overcame League One Bristol Rovers thanks to goals from Aaron Ramsey and Joe Ralls in each half.

On August 10 (12:30 BST), Cardiff takes on Sunderland in the 2024–25 Championship in south Wales.
