JUST NOW: The former star quarterback for Notre Dame leaves the Philadelphia Eagles.

Ian Book, the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, is currently a free agent. A week after the game, Book’s contract expired. He was a member of the practice squad during the team’s run to the Super Bowl. Since the Eagles did not ink him to a new contract, he is free to sign anywhere.

After joining the Eagles in December when Jalen Hurts and Kenny Pickett were sidelined, Book spent just over two weeks on the active roster before being cut and rejoining the practice squad.

The New Orleans Saints selected Book in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, but he only played one season with the Saints before they parted ways. Book has since moved around the NFL, playing for the Eagles twice, in 2022 and 2024, as well as the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots.

From 2016 to 2020, the Notre Dame standout was a member of the Fighting Irish. He has only amassed 135 passing yards, two interceptions, and zero touchdowns during his NFL career. For his fifth NFL season, Book, 26, will try to find a new team.
