Aaron Rodgers, the former quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, became an NFL free agent yesterday for the first time in his career. Naturally, as a Packers player, he signed extension after extension to stay with the team and never made it to free agency. However, Green Bay traded him to the New York Jets following the 2022 NFL season.
Upon arriving in New York, Rodgers signed a three-year extension with the Jets with the hope that he would be able to remain there for the rest of his career.
As everyone knows, that did not happen. Following a 5-12 season, New York’s new head coach and general manager decided to go in a different direction at the quarterback position. They informed him that he would be released with a post-June 1 designation, which meant they had to wait until March 12 in order to make the decision official.
For weeks, fans and analysts have speculated about where the four-time NFL MVP would play in 2025. While many teams were suggested as possible landing spaces, just three potential suitors remain.
