NCAA: Three Arguments in Favor of Wisconsin Running in March and Three Against

NCAA: Three Arguments in Favor of Wisconsin Running in March and Three Against

For Wisconsin basketball to have a favorable home-court advantage and open the NCAA tournament in Milwaukee, all the stars seemed to be in alignment.

As anticipated, Wisconsin received a No. 3 seed and advanced to the Big Ten tournament championship game.

However, unlike three years ago, the Badgers will not kick off March Madness at Fiserv Forum. In the first round, Greg Gard’s team will travel to Denver to play Montana, according to the selection committee.

In the end, the committee ranked Wisconsin 12th overall, behind Kentucky (11th) and Iowa State (10th), two teams selected for Milwaukee and on the 3-line in the Midwest and South, respectively.

So, instead of playing close to home Friday and getting an extra day of rest after playing in the Big Ten tournament final Sunday, the Badgers will head to the Rocky Mountains at high altitude in the first set of games on Thursday.

Wisconsin basketball fans on social media were not happy about the Badgers’ placement.
