Ahead to the 2025 season, head coach Marcus Freeman welcomed one of his former starting defensive ends back to South Bend as a staff member, bringing the two back together for the first time since 2021.
Prior to the next season, Notre Dame has added Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, a former team captain, to its recruiting staff.
Following in the footsteps of General Manager Mike Martin and Director of Player Personnel Jourdan Blake, Tagovailoa-Amosa is the newest addition to the Fighting Irish’s extensive backroom restructure that was carried out this summer. As the new Director of Recruiting Advancement for the program, the 25-year-old will report to Martin.
Notre Dame confirmed the appointment of its former defensive tackle on Tuesday, who will also be working alongside Director of Recruiting Carter Auman and analyst Deland McCullough II, with the latter being just one of three holdovers from the previous staff.
As a previous team captain, Tagovailoa-Amosa has demonstrated his ability to lead by example. As he gets set to play a significant role in the program’s recruiting efforts, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman will be hoping he can carry over his on-field skills into his off-field work.
Tagovailoa-Amosa was named a team captain for the Irish in 2021 when Freeman was a first-year defensive co-ordinator. During his final season in South Bend, he played a career-high 579 snaps as a starting defensive end, while registering a career-high 25 tackles to go with five tackles for loss and two sacks. His sack number was low, but Tagovailoa-Amosa was second on the defense with 35 pressures that season (PFF).
A native of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Tagovailoa-Amosa signed with Notre Dame as part of the 2017 recruiting class. During his freshman season, he played 13 games and 327 snaps for the Irish as the program won 10 games, although an injury in the opener against Michigan cost Tagovailoa-Amosa the remainder of the 2018 regular season.
