SO SAD: The Auburn Tigers receive this terrible message from Michigan.

As men’s March Madness resumes, the Auburn Tigers and Michigan Wolverines will square off on Friday in an attempt to advance to the Elite Eight in Atlanta.

As of Wednesday, the Wolverines were rated 20th in the KenPom Rankings, and the Tigers were ranked fourth. Auburn, the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament and the SEC regular-season winner, will have to contend with Michigan, a formidable squad that secured the No. 5 seed.


The Wolverines, who have advanced to the round in each of their last six NCAA outings, are making their 19th Sweet 16 appearance. Since their march to the 2013 Final Four, Michigan will be playing their first NCAA Tournament games in Atlanta.

With three minutes remaining in the first half, Michigan leads Auburn 27–25. For the Tigers, Johni Broome has already recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Danny Wolf leads the Wolverines with 11 points per game.

Michigan State awaits winner of Michigan-Auburn

The winner of the Sweet 16 game between Auburn and Michigan will play Michigan State in the Elite Eight. Michigan State coach Tom Izzo was spotted with Steve Smith in the crowd, watching the game.

Smith played for the Spartans (1987-91). He now works as a basketball analyst for Turner Sports.

The Spartans are 30-6 and were Big 10 regular-season champions.
