Vikings QB drama ends, Sam Darnold leaves Minnesota for Seahawks

The quarterback drama that has taken place for the last six months has finally come to an end. After what seemed like 500 reports, projections, and expectations for the Vikings and Sam Darnold, the veteran quarterback made a decision in his free agency.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that Sam Darnold has signed with the Seattle Seahawks for a three-year deal worth up to $110.5 million.

Darnold signed with the Vikings for one year last Spring for just $10 million. The former third overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft had become a journeyman of the sport before Kevin O’Connell and the Vikings were able to get what everyone was waiting for out of him. He set career highs in every statistical category in 2024, and as a result, he now cashes in with a new team

The Seahawks traded away their starting quarterback Geno Smtih over the weekend,d and reports immediately tied Darnold to the Seahawks due to their offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Darnold and Kubiak were together with the 49ers in 2023 and showed some promise together on his now NFC West rival.

Now, for the Vikings, they are seemingly all in on their former top draft pick, J.J. McCarthy.
