BREAKING NEWS: For this reason alone, the Bears must select Alfred Collins and Kelvin Banks Jr. from Texas in the NFL Draft.

Taylor Doll examines players that could fit in with the Chicago Bears as part of her ongoing NFL Draft podcast series. CJ Vogel, who covers the Texas Longhorns for On Texas Football, joins her on her most recent episode of Making Monsters on our 2nd City Gridiron channel. The first Texas player to be taken off the board is Kelvin Banks Jr. They talk about a number of guys who will play on Sundays, such as defensive lineman Alfred Collins and Vernon Broughton, and wide receivers Matthew Golden and Isaiah Bond.

After seeing Banks start at left tackle for three years and perform well against elite opponents, Vogel finds it hard to comprehend the discussion of shifting him inside to guard.

He was put to the test in the battle right from the start, and he essentially passed every exam that came his way. really strong in terms of previous protection. That is his clear strength, you know, and when he gets to the NFL, he might need to straighten up a slight bend in his waist. Vogel went on. However, in 42 games at Texas, that player gave up really no more than two or three sacks. That place is really robust.

Defensive tackle Alfred Collins is another player the Bears could target, and Vogel spoke highly of him, too.

“For Alfred, one thing that I thought really stood out to me about his game this year, just being a complete rock in the middle of the defensive line. Not a guy that was moved very easily. He discarded offensive linemen very easily to create plays and running games.”
