NEWS NOW: As he gets ready to return, Millwall’s manager considers his time with Cardiff City and says, “The demand is to get it right.”

As NEIL Harris gets ready to lead his Millwall team back to his old club on Tuesday, he has nothing but admiration for the teammates he worked with at Cardiff City.

November 2019 saw Harris’ appointment as manager of the Bluebirds, barely over a month after his departure from the Lions. After Neil Warnock left, he took charge and guided the team from fourteenth place into the play-offs, where they were defeated 3-2 by Fulham in the semifinals.

Harris lost six games in a row before being fired in January 2021.

Following the Lions’ 3-1 victory over Preston North End, Harris was questioned concerning his experiences at the Cardiff City Stadium.

incredibly fun. Odd at times even throughout COVID-19,” Harris claimed. “[Owner] Vincent Tan was a man of class, pure class. We had a fantastic rapport. Excellent leadership from [chairman] Mehmet Dalman and [chief executive] Ken Choo, who were both very smart.

“We obviously came very, very close to winning the Premier League and just missed it, which was a huge disappointment at the time, but I still loved it.”

“It’s a tough job at Cardiff City and the next manager will find that as well. It is very difficult to appease everybody.

“But me personally, I enjoyed it and I really look forward to my first return on Tuesday to see some really, really good people.”

Cardiff sacked Erol Bulut last month and put Omar Riza in temporary charge as they search for a new manager.
