In addition to discussing his unusual interaction with Princess Diana, Bryan Adams gave an explanation for why he retired a song he had written about her following her passing.

Since 1980, the 64-year-old Canadian singer has been consistently producing popular songs. His hits include the number one hit, “I Do It For You,” and the smash singles “When You’re Gone” and “Please Forgive Me.” The B-side to his Top 40 hit Heaven, “Diana,” which he released in 1984, is thought to be about Diana and her ex-husband, King Charles.

The song’s line, “The day that you married him – I nearly lost my mind,” caught people’s attention because it made reference to a well-known woman. The song caught the attention of the late Princess Diana, who became friendly with Bryan. There have been persistent rumors that they even had an affair when Bryan was allegedly in a committed relationship with Danish model Cecilie Thomsen.

Bryan made the decision to cease singing the song in honor of the late Princess Diana and her kids, Prince William, 41, and Prince Harry, 39, when Diana passed away in a car accident in Paris in 1997 at the age of 36. Bryan stated in an interview with The Sunday Times that he removed the song “out of respect” for Diana after

He also talked candidly about their unique bond, describing how they first met on an airplane and how she subsequently asked him to tea at Kensington Palace after he mailed her a CD of his song. Bryan declared, “Diana was an incredible woman and a tremendous inspiration. I really, really liked her.” One of the best things that has ever occurred to me is definitely meeting her.

He says that when they talked about his song “Diana,” he told the late Princess, “Yes, I know, very funny.” In fact, I’d prefer to hear it once more. Then he mailed her a copy, and she invited him over for tea.

Bryan asserts: “She wasn’t like, ‘I really need to talk to somebody,’ and you don’t bulldoze into someone’s life wanting to know everything in the first ten minutes when I first walked around to KP (Kensington Palace). It was, “Let’s sip on some tea.”

But as time went on, and we became more cordial, I discovered the true nature of the situation.
Bryan has never been married, however he did date his assistant Alicia Grimaldi, with whom he shares two kids, Mirabella, 12, and Lula, 10. In the 1990s, Bryan also dated 49-year-old Cecilie.

A turbulent relationship that wasn’t made any easier by Bryan’s affair with Diana, according to Cecilie’s startling 2003 revelation.
